PROGRAM NOTES
The Rembrandt of Avenue A is a miniature drama that utilizes elements of concert music, metal, and hip-hop. A cadre of four bucket drummers and an electric guitarist augment an amplified chamber ensemble. The piece’s story - outlined by the narrator and further clarified through sections featuring 1-2 MCs - addresses the value that society places on art, and art’s perceived value in the world of economics.
